Privacy policy
Effective 28 October 2026. Applies to the PleatView TV app, the PleatView Home Assistant integration and this website, developed and published by Hustlesman.
Summary
PleatView does not collect, sell or share personal data. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking. The TV app talks only to your own Home Assistant server, and to the media, image and web addresses your Home Assistant sends it.
Who we are
PleatView is developed and published by Hustlesman. For anything about privacy, email privacy@hustlesman.com.
The TV app
On the TV itself, PleatView stores:
- the address of your Home Assistant server and an access token used to show your dashboards,
- its settings (dashboards, zoom, kiosk mode and similar),
- a device identifier derived from Android's per-app identifier, so Home Assistant recognises the TV,
- one-way hashes of the pairing tokens it has issued.
This data never leaves the TV except to your own Home Assistant. It is excluded from Android backups and device-to-device transfers. PleatView does not collect location, contacts, advertising identifiers, usage statistics or crash reports.
Network connections
The app listens on your local network (port 8765) so a paired Home Assistant can control it, and announces itself on the local network so Home Assistant can find it. Pairing requires a PIN shown on the TV. The app connects to your Home Assistant server and to the media, image and web addresses Home Assistant asks it to show. It makes no other connections.
The Home Assistant integration
The integration runs inside your own Home Assistant. By default it creates a local-only Home Assistant user for the TV and gives the TV an access token for that user. Removing the integration deletes that user and resets the TV.
This website
pleatview.hustlesman.com uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on GitHub Pages and delivered through Cloudflare. Like any website host, they process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse, under their own privacy policies.
Donations
Donations are optional and are processed by Stripe. We receive what Stripe shares with us: your email address, the amount, and your name or message if you give them. We use this only to send receipts, reply to you and keep the records the law requires. We never see your full card details. Stripe's own privacy policy covers the payment itself.
Deleting your data
- TV app: uninstall it, or clear its data in Android's app settings.
- Integration: remove it in Home Assistant, which also deletes the user it created.
- Donation records: email privacy@hustlesman.com and we'll delete anything we're not required to keep.
Security
Control of the TV stays on your local network, pairing needs a PIN shown on the TV, and only hashes of pairing tokens are stored. Please report security problems privately to privacy@hustlesman.com.
Children
PleatView is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal data from anyone.
App stores
If you install PleatView from an app store, the store's own privacy policy covers the data it collects, such as download and crash statistics.
Changes
Changes to this policy are published on this page and in the project's GitHub repository.
